Privacy Policy

This policy explains what the GardenGenius mobile app ("GardenGenius", "we", "us") collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. We collect only what we need to run the app's features and we never sell your personal data.

1. Information we collect

Account information

GardenGenius starts you in an anonymous session. If you choose to create or link an account, we use Sign in with Apple or Google. We receive a unique user identifier and, optionally, the name and email address you allow the provider to share. With Sign in with Apple you may use Apple's Hide My Email relay so your real address is never shared with us.

Content you create

We store the content you add so it syncs across your devices: your gardens, beds and plants, journal entries, watering tasks and reminders, and any posts or comments you publish in the community feed. Community posts and comments are visible to other users.

Photos and plant diagnosis

When you use the AI plant-diagnosis or identification feature, the photo you capture or select is uploaded to our backend and sent to a third-party AI provider to generate the result. Photos are processed to produce your diagnosis and may be retained to operate and improve the feature. Only grant Camera and Photo Library access if you are comfortable with this.

Approximate location

To show local weather and tailor planting guidance, the app may use your approximate (region-level) location. We do not need or store precise GPS coordinates for this feature. You can decline location access and still use the rest of the app.

Usage, device, and diagnostics

We collect privacy-friendly analytics (screens viewed, features used, general device and OS type) and crash/diagnostic reports to find and fix bugs. This data is tied to a pseudonymous identifier, not your name.

Purchases

GardenGenius offers auto-renewing subscriptions. Payments are processed by Apple — we never receive or store your full payment card details. We do receive your subscription status (active, expired, plan) so we can unlock premium features.

We use trusted providers to run GardenGenius. Each processes data only as needed for its function and under its own privacy policy:

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-app advertising.

4. Data retention & deletion

We keep your content while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Profile → Delete Account in the app; this removes your account and associated personal data from our systems, subject to limited retention required by law or for fraud prevention. You can also email us at [email protected] to request access to or deletion of your data.

5. Security

Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) and stored on reputable cloud infrastructure with access controls. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

6. Children's privacy

GardenGenius is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, use the in-app deletion control or email [email protected].

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above always reflects the current version. Significant changes will be communicated in the app where appropriate.
